If you have lived in Woodland Park for more than a season or two, you already know the rhythm of the main drag. Midland Avenue has always been the through-line, the strip you drive when you are picking up a prescription, dropping a kid at the pool, or heading back from Divide. What is different this summer is the number of reasons to stop the car. Two significant openings in 2026, a 41st-year festival, and a free concert series inside the Ute Pass Cultural Center have quietly turned the corridor between Memorial Park and the library into a walkable evening on foot, not a set of separate errands.
That is the thesis worth holding onto as the calendar tips into August. Woodland Park is not adding one new thing. It is adding a cluster, and the cluster is close enough together that you can park once.
The New Patio Everyone Is Talking About
A new eatery opened in Woodland Park over Independence Day weekend, at 110 W. Midland Ave., offering food, drink and live music during its opening weekend, much like its predecessor 110 Reserve did during its time. The name is The Woodland Social, and if the address sounds familiar that is because the space's large outdoor patio has been visible along the town's main drag for years. What changed is who is behind the counter.
Husband and wife team Levi and Miranda Kleeb are the operators, and locals may already recognize their other ventures. They also own and operate The Salty Cow, a food truck that serves and caters at events in southern Colorado, as well as Red Beard Coffee. The turnaround was fast. Within two weeks of signing a lease, the Kleebs were setting down drinks and grub for their first customers.
The soft-open menu leans approachable. Items include burgers such as a pimento bacon cheeseburger, and desserts such as a four-layer chocolate cake, with plans to expand the menu to offer salads, more starter choices and possibly pizzas. If you show up in August and the wait feels long, that is not accidental. Hiring has already been more challenging in a mountain town. Miranda said at the coffee shop they post an ad and get hundreds of applicants within the first day, but in Woodland Park it has been a little different. She hopes to bring on six or seven more employees before extending operational hours, which during the soft opening run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The practical takeaway for a resident: patio weather is short here, and the Kleebs are betting on staffing catching up before it ends. Go on a Tuesday if you want a table without waiting.
A Six-Acre Project With A Ute Name
The second opening is a different scale of ambition entirely. Tava House is a new taproom, steakhouse and banquet facility in Woodland Park, and the name comes partly from the Ute language in reference to Sun Mountain, also known as Pikes Peak. Food journalist Matthew Schniper called the six-acre campus enormous, with a banquet facility on one side, a taproom downstairs and a steakhouse coming upstairs.
The two-story destination features a pour-your-own taproom, an elegant event space and an upstairs fine-dining steakhouse called Firebrand. The frontman matters here. Chef Victor Matthews is recognized locally from Paragon Culinary School and also Black Bear Distillery, which prior to that, 15 years ago, was Black Bear Restaurant, one of the earlier fine dining spots along Ute Pass. Victor's wife, Rihanna, is the pastry chef.
There is a workforce dimension too, worth noting given the Kleebs' hiring comments a mile away. Tava House is pulling talent from its own culinary school and also from local high schools, which should make it a hub for the area to bring line cooks up. Two new restaurants, one shared labor pool. That is a piece of local context you cannot get from a search engine.

Mark August 8 And 9 On The Fridge
If you only build one Saturday around downtown this month, build it around the arts festival. The 40th annual Mountain Arts Festival at Woodland Park runs August 8 to 9, 2026, and more than 70 artists showcase a variety of their pieces to the Pikes Peak community. Artists from around the country come together to present paintings, jewelry, metal sculptures and pottery for sale at this dog-friendly festival, and there are food vendors and live entertainment alongside the artwork. A silent auction is also part of the weekend, letting event-goers take home art pieces and helping raise money for art education.
A note on the counting. The city's tourism partner lists this as the 40th year, while a separate roundup calls it the 41st. Either way, this is a four-decade tradition, older than most of the current storefronts on Midland. It is the kind of event that quietly explains why the block between the library and the Pavilion is set up the way it is: for gathering, not for parking.
Wednesday Nights At The Pavilion
The other worth-your-time habit is easy to miss because it does not get postered as heavily. Every second Wednesday of June, July, and August, the Ute Pass Cultural Center hosts a free community concert. The Ute Pass Cultural Center sits at 210 E. Midland Ave., between UPCC and the library, at the Midland Pavilion Green. The August date lands mid-month, and it is one of the few programs in town that stays free year after year.
While you are checking the Cultural Center's calendar, there is also a family-oriented event earlier that week worth flagging for anyone with kids at home:

New openings are the reason to write a post like this. They are not the reason a place feels like home. If you have been here a while, your default is probably still Red Diamond Gastro Pub at 112 S. Elm St., open Monday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Wednesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., closed Tuesday. It is a short walk from Midland, and it has held its ground through a stretch when other operators came and went. The signal is that Red Diamond is the anchor the new arrivals are opening around, not competing against.
That is what makes the current moment interesting for anyone who has lived in Woodland Park through a few cycles. The corridor is not being remade. It is being filled in.
A Practical Late-Summer Loop
If you want to string all of this into one Saturday, the logistics are simple. Park near the Ute Pass Cultural Center at 210 E. Midland Ave. Walk the festival at Memorial Park in the morning while the shade is still good. Grab a mid-afternoon patio drink at 110 W. Midland. Reserve a table at Firebrand for dinner if you want a longer evening, or hold Tava House for the taproom on a night when you want lower stakes. Circle back to the Pavilion Green on the next open Wednesday for the concert.
